Collection and Use of Personally Identifiable Information
The Woodland Crediting Platform collects certain personally identifiable information (“PII”) when you register with the Woodland Crediting Platform, subscribe to receive emails or other notices from us, or otherwise submit PII to us. Specifically, we may collect the following personal information: your name, email address, telephone numbers, and other demographic information (like zip code or address). This information may be linked in our database to specific geospatial data about the locations evaluated using the Website.
We use the PII information to process your requests, or to send you information or material for which you have subscribed or which we think you will enjoy. We also use the PII to assess and improve our services. We may allow entities assisting the Woodland Crediting Platform on technical and internal issues to access certain PII data on a need-to-know basis, subject to confidentiality protections.
The Woodland Crediting Platform reserves the right to disclose PII data when legally required to do so without notice to users, including in response to court order or subpoena, at the request of governmental authorities, to verify or enforce rights or compliance with entity’s policies, to protect privacy or other rights, or to protect against misuse of data or the Website.
We reserve the right to provide any successor in interest with our subscriber and user databases, and to comply with court orders or other legal obligations. We may share your name, email address, physical address and other demographic information with affiliates or entities with which we share common interests or perspectives with your permission. The Woodland Crediting Platform may publically share aggregated data based on PII data you have provided. This aggregated data will contain summary data and statistics and will not include individual’s PII. The Woodland Crediting Platform will retain the PII you enter through your Website account and related geospatial data until you close your Website account.
Geospatial data used to generate a user’s report does not contain any proprietary information. All data has been collected from public agencies or conservation organizations.
The Woodland Crediting Platform takes precautions to protect the security of your personal information and to ensure that your choices for its intended use are honored. These precautions help protect your data from loss, misuse, unauthorized access or disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, we cannot guarantee the total security of that PII, or that we will be immune from hacking incidents or security breaches.
The Woodland Crediting Platform gives users the option to edit the personal information you have already given us and/or to remove your name from our roster, or unsubscribe from any email lists or notices. Users also may opt-out of receiving future mailings from The Woodland Crediting Platform. To opt-out of future communications, Users may close their Website account or send an email to email@example.com with the word “unsubscribe” in the subject line.
Notice to Parents
The Woodland Crediting Platform does not collect or seek personal information from persons under the age of 13. We encourage parents to talk to their children about safe and responsible use of their Personal Information while using the Internet.
